Around 1.5 million people in Finland are set to receive tax refunds on Monday, according to the Finnish Tax Administration.
The total amount paid out will reach approximately €800 million, making August one of the peak refund periods of the year.
According to officials, the funds may not appear in bank accounts at the start of the day, as payment processing takes place throughout Monday.
The Tax Administration advises taxpayers to monitor the status of their refunds through the ‘MyTax’ portal on the official Vero website.
Refund schedules may differ for several reasons. Adjustments to pre-filled tax returns, updates to tax details after submission, or missing bank account information can result in delayed payments. Refunds may also be withheld if they are used to cover outstanding taxes or subject to seizure due to debt enforcement.
The agency confirmed that individuals who did not submit changes to their returns and provided accurate banking information are likely to receive payments without delay.
In addition to refunds, nearly two million people are due to pay their property tax this Wednesday. The Tax Administration reported that the total amount due in property tax payments amounts to €447 million.
Officials advise taxpayers to confirm their payment details in advance, especially if they have moved, changed banks, or previously received correspondence regarding outstanding tax liabilities.
The Finnish Tax Administration said further refund batches will continue later this year, with dates varying depending on individual filing times and any subsequent corrections to submitted data.
