12 libraries in Helsinki start Christmas gift campaign
Twelve libraries in Helsinki started a good mood Christmas campaign on Monday, which will continue until December 22, said the City of Helsinki in a press release.
The staff of the libraries have wrapped books which they recommend as gifts with a suitable cover note. The staff are also happy to provide tips for book gift purchases and festive reading moments.
The gift-wrapped books contain many kinds of books for readers of all ages, from classics to the latest new books, and from novels to non-fiction.
People can choose the suitable gift for themselves or their loved one based on the cover note attached onto the package, describing the content and topic of the book.
However, the name of the book remains a surprise.
"Library visitors have liked this annual campaign a lot, and books from the gift tables have been actively borrowed for the borrowers themselves, as well as for others. Returning the book must obviously be agreed on with the recipient of the gift," said information specialist at the Herttoniemi, Laajasalo, and Roihuvuori libraries, Johanna Juvonen.
The library staff are happy to provide tips for book gift purchases and festive reading moments. At the Central Library Oodi, there is a book exhibition where you can borrow Christmas reading recommended by the staff.
The libraries participating in the Christmas gift campaign are Herttoniemi Library, Jätkäsaari Library, Kallio Library, Lauttasaari Library, Malmi Library, Munkkiniemi Library, Oulunkylä Library, Puistola Library, Rikhardinkatu Library, Roihuvuori Library, Tapulikaupunki Library and Töölö Library.
