Espoo will mark the end of its summer season with a citywide celebration as Espoo Day returns on the final weekend of August.
The two-day event takes place on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August, offering a programme of more than 150 free events. The celebration is open to all residents and coordinated through contributions from local communities, organisations, companies and city departments.
First held in 1992, Espoo Day has grown into the city’s largest annual public event.
This year’s theme, “Responsibly Together”, encourages collective participation with attention to environmental and social awareness.
In Vanttila, the Puutarhafest at the Espoo City Garden will feature an outdoor gathering with music, workshops and community activities in a park setting. Families and visitors can explore nature-themed programming and local art installations.
The Greater Leppävaara area will host a range of events including the national-level equestrian event Horses in Espoo at Vermo Arena, and the long-running Raittikarnevaalit street festival. Saturday evening will end with a concert by Samuli Putro at the Viaporintori terrace in Sello.
The full Espoo Day programme is available in the city’s online event calendar.
