				Finnish actor Tomi Alatalo dies at 44

Tomi Alatalo, a Finnish actor known for his roles in both theatre and film, has died at the age of 44. His family confirmed the death on Sunday 21 September.

Alatalo appeared in several Finnish productions across stage and screen. His final film role will be seen in Anna minun rakastaa enemmän, scheduled for release on 3 October.

Born in 1981 in Tornio and raised in Keminmaa, Alatalo studied physical theatre and mime in London before completing a master’s degree in theatre arts at Tampere University in 2009.

He began his film career with a role in Love Records – Anna mulle lovee (2016), portraying composer Henrik-Otto Donner. The film depicted the story of the influential Finnish record label.

He gained wider recognition for his performance in Hytti nro 6, which earned him a Jussi Award nomination. His other film appearances included Metsurin tarina, Metsäjätti, and smaller roles in Finnish television series such as Rakkaat lapset.

In theatre, Alatalo worked extensively with director Juha Hurme, performing in productions including Jumalainen Näytelmä at Espoo City Theatre and Lou Salomé at Turku City Theatre, where he played Friedrich Nietzsche.

He was also part of several municipal theatre ensembles, including those in Tampere, Turku, and Espoo.
