German thriller series 'Liebes Kind' wins Int´l Emmy Award

The German thriller series "Liebes Kind" (Dear Child) took home a prestigious award at the 52nd International Emmy Awards on Monday, winning in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category, reported dpa.

The six-part series, which blends crime and family drama, follows a woman who escapes a harrowing captivity, only to discover her fate is entwined with a 13-year-old unsolved missing person's case.

Produced by Constantin Film for Netflix, "Liebes Kind" was recognized for its captivating storyline and compelling performances.

Leading writers and directors Isabel Kleefeld and Julian Pörksen, producers Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker, and lead actresses Kim Riedle and Haley Louise Jones were on hand to accept the prize in Manhattan.

"Best Monday ever," said Oetker, beaming with pride as he accepted the golden Emmy statue. "It was the privilege and pleasure of a lifetime to work with that crew."

Spiess and Kleefeld shared their excitement, telling dpa, "We are overwhelmed. 'Liebes Kind' was created with so much love, two children, and an amazing cast and team. This award belongs to all of us."

The night's biggest award, the Drama Series category, went to "Drops of God" from France.

The International Emmy Awards celebrate non-US television productions, and this year saw 56 entries from 21 countries vying for top honours in 14 categories.

While the International Emmys may not carry the same prestige as the US-based Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, they have gained growing recognition, especially in the streaming era.
