Holiday home demand surges across Finland

The Finnish holiday property market is seeing rapid growth in both supply and demand, with strong interest reported across every region.
According to data from Etuovi.com, the number of holiday home searches has increased in all regions compared to the same period last year. The largest rise was recorded in Pirkanmaa, where searches rose by 28 percent. Pohjois-Karjala followed with 27 percent, while Pohjanmaa and Etelä-Pohjanmaa both posted 25 percent growth.
Alongside rising interest, the supply of holiday properties is also climbing. During the first quarter of 2025, 26 percent more holiday property listings were published compared to the previous year. Typically, the highest number of listings appear in May and June, so an early rise suggests a robust market for the coming summer.
“Supply is already showing clear signs of growth, which bodes well for the season,” said Tuomo Räsänen, Director of Housing Business at Alma Marketplaces.
The number of direct contact requests sent by potential buyers also increased. In March 2025, Etuovi.com users sent 42 percent more enquiries for holiday homes than in March 2024. According to Räsänen, this suggests that supply is keeping pace with demand.
“Buyers are actively monitoring the market. In March alone, the number of new search alerts for holiday homes was up 19 percent year-on-year,” Räsänen said.
The increase in search activity was not confined to specific regions. Every region posted growth between 7 and 28 percent in early April compared to the same period in 2024.
Satakunta, Kanta-Häme and Kymenlaakso each saw growth of more than 18 percent, while Uusimaa and Varsinais-Suomi recorded 20 and 10 percent respectively.
Etuovi.com’s figures indicate strong market momentum in both directions: more listings are being posted, and more potential buyers are engaging with them. For those considering putting a holiday property up for sale, current activity suggests favourable conditions heading into summer.
