Nine people were detained after a violent group fight broke out at Sports Bar Töölö in Helsinki on Friday night.
Police said several individuals are suspected of aggravated assault, assault, criminal damage, and endangerment following the incident, which occurred shortly before 23:00 near the Mannerheimintie entrance of the bar.
According to initial findings, the fight began outside the establishment and continued inside.
A large stone was thrown through the restaurant’s window, injuring patrons inside and causing significant property damage.
At least a few individuals sustained various injuries. Police confirmed that some of the wounds resulted from physical assaults, while others were caused by shattered glass.
Restaurant owner Amit Badwal described the scene as chaotic and dangerous. “They threw a really large rock through the window. I was on the floor just a minute earlier. That stone could have hit someone in the head,” Badwal told Helsingin Sanomat.
He said about 30 customers were present at the time of the incident, most of whom were wearing Jokerit hockey jerseys or scarves. Jokerit had played a home match in Mestis earlier that evening, losing to Kiekko-Vantaa.
