Sales of summer cottages in Finland have grown almost 10 percent this summer compared with the same period last year, according to the Finnish Central Federation of Real Estate Agencies.
Between May and July, a total of 560 transactions were recorded. Of these, 557 involved existing cottages and three were new builds.
The federation’s chief executive Tuomas Viljamaa said the figures indicate that the cottage market has stabilised at a higher level than before the pandemic.
Regional differences were clear in July. Varsinais-Suomi saw the highest number of sales with 60, while both Etelä-Pohjanmaa and Keski-Pohjanmaa reported only seven deals each.
Prices continued to rise modestly. The average cottage sold this year cost €130,000, compared with €128,000 last year. The median price also increased, from €90,000 in 2023 to €95,000 this year.
