Finland’s exports to the United States dropped by 10 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2024, according to preliminary figures from Statistics Finland.

Goods and services worth around €3.2 billion were exported from Finland to the US between April and June. In contrast, imports from the US rose by seven percent year-on-year, reaching €1.7 billion.

Reetta Karinluoma, Chief Actuary at Statistics Finland, said the tariff discussions launched by US President Donald Trump in April did not significantly affect trade between the two countries during the spring. Trump had threatened to impose a 20-percent tariff on EU goods, raising concerns about the potential impact on Finland’s economy.

Last month, the EU and the US agreed to a deal setting a 15-percent tariff on most EU goods exported to the US.

Finland’s exports to the US in 2024 totalled about €7 billion, down 18 percent from 2023.
