Student detained after police operation at Vihti school

A student was taken into custody at Vihdin yhteiskoulu on Thursday following a serious incident that prompted a large police response and temporary lockdown of the school.
The police received an emergency call at 12:47 reporting threatening behaviour inside the school. Several patrols responded, securing the building and detaining one individual. Preliminary information indicates the suspect is a pupil at the school.
According to , the student allegedly attacked a teacher in the upper secondary section of the building.
The police have not confirmed this detail but stated no one was injured.
All teaching resumed later in the day. Pupils whose classes continued were allowed to stay, while the rest were gradually released after the building was deemed safe.
At the time of the event, approximately 360 pupils aged between 13 and 16 were present in the school.
The school building was not evacuated. Instead, police advised staff to lock pupils in classrooms until the suspect had been apprehended.
Crisis support was offered to staff and students. Local police said their investigation is ongoing.
