Foreign visitors injected €1.23 billion into the Finnish economy over the winter season, according to figures published by Business Finland on Tuesday.
The data covers the period from December 2024 to February 2025, during which 1.24 million people visited Finland from 88 different countries. The number of tourists grew by 7 percent compared to the same period last year, while spending rose 15 percent.
Business Finland, which promotes tourism and travel to Finland, said most of the spending went toward accommodation, dining, transport, shopping, and leisure activities such as skiing and cultural events.
The €1.23 billion figure excludes the cost of travel to Finland, such as international airfare.
The agency noted that tourists who travel to Finland in winter tend to spend more per person than summer visitors, largely due to the higher cost of winter-specific services and equipment.
The average spend per foreign tourist for the full year 2024 was around €764. Total spending for all international visitors last year was approximately €3.7 billion.
